| Swanirvar
works in 58 villages about 40 kms northeast of Calcutta. It is an easy
ride by car or a train
from Sealdah to Maslandapur, and then local transportation to the main
village of Andharmanik. Swanirvar has its own
building with
rooms for visitors and
fully equipped Western style toilets. It runs a
kitchen facility where simple
but tasty meals are cooked by a chef for visitors and workers. Swanirvar
has computers and
phone connections available for communication. Click
here for more pictures. Over the years Swanirvar has hosted many visitors from India and many countries abroad for varying lengths of time. While it is preferable to know the local Bengali language, it is not essential to a successful and productive stay - there are several workers and personnel who have a passable command of English to guide foreign visitors. What is needed is the spirit to be open minded to learn and to teach. All different kinds of skill sets are needed - so if you want to help out, please contact us by filling in the form below. |
